New relationships must be developed between clinicians, organisations and local people to ensure that health and wellbeing boards are successful, a major report on the principles behind the new boards has concluded.

The report, produced by the Royal College of GPs, NHS Confederation, BMA, and other local government and social care bodies, calls for collective leadership, involvement of local people in decision-making, and an emphasis on tackling inequalities to be at the heart of the boards’ principles.
