A brand new support group is being launch in the area and local residents are invited to join. The two individual support groups meet at the same time, on the same day in two separate rooms and allow both patient and carers their own space. The Patients and Carers Support Groups are open to anyone with a life limiting illness or for people caring for a family member or friend who has a life limiting illness. Halton Haven Hospice are launching the first of these groups in the area, and are urging anyone who fits the criteria to come along. The group that will take place at Halton Haven Hospice will take place on the third Wednesday of every month at 3:15pm – 4:30pm and all are welcome. The group offers support and advice and offers a place where guest can relax. There will be opportunities to enjoy complimentary therapies and a chance to meet new people, make friends share experiences and find someone who can and will listen to you. Gaynor Ashton, Quality Assurance Officer for Halton Haven Hospice explains “ Whilst there are many support groups in the Halton area who offer great service to the community we believe the specialist needs of someone with a life limiting illness and their carers can best be met and supported by the skilled, professional team at Halton Haven Hospice. One of our key aims is to remove the perceptions and fears that people have of a hospice and to show the community the full range of services and support for people with life limiting illness available at Halton Haven. ...” The support the group can offer includes: Looking after yourself, information, advanced care directives, financial advice and welfare rights, employment rights for carers, legal issues such as lasting powers of attorney and wills, stress management, equipment, symptom management, spiritual and emotional support, and help and advice from the hospice’s multi professional team. For further details on the event contact Jan Gray or Gaynor Ashton on 01928 712728, or join the team, on the first Wednesday of each month, at Halton Haven Hospice from 3.15pm – 4.30pm.
