The early cold snap is putting pressure on local health services and health bosses for the borough are asking people to use local pharmacies and the Walk In Centres where possible... helping to make sure that A&E and ambulance teams are free to treat people who have emergency conditions such as strokes and heart attacks or have had serious accidents. If you are feeling unwell your high street chemist can provide expert fast advice… text 'pharmacy' to 64746 to receive three free texts with details of your nearest chemist. If you do need to see someone then you can visit the local Walk- In-Centre where you will be given expert advice by an advanced Nurse Practitioner. Widnes Walk-In-Centre is open from 7am – 10pm 7 days a week 365 days a year and St Helens MIU is open from 7am – 10pm Monday to Saturday and 9am – 10pm on Sundays. Please be advised that during the 30mins before closing, patients will be assessed but might be referred to GP Out of Hours, their own GP or a local A&E Department. Or call NHS Direct on 0845 4647
